Hello! My name is Joseph Timmons. I am a 22 year old Mathematics Major at Mount Saint Mary College located in the Historical town of Newburgh, New York. I am also a Childhood and Special Education Teacher Candidate at the Mount. I am a candidate to graduate from the Mount in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts.
Growing up in Staten Island, I never pictured that I would become a teacher. I always thought that I would become a member of the NYPD like my father. When I was 13, my sister Sienna was born deaf and then later received Cochlear Implants. As I helped educate Sienna as she grew older, I realized that my true passion was to be an educator of children with disabilities. This passion was exemplified during my semester student teaching at Berea Elementary School in Montgomery, New York. I had the privilege to student teach in an ICT classroom as well as a 12-1-1 Special Education classroom.
Along with my education, I am also a member of Mount's NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse team. I am a firm believer that sports can be used as an education tool about life. All of my coaches I have had throughout my years of playing football and lacrosse have helped develop me into the person I am today. I would like to return the favor by coaching lacrosse and passing on the life skills I have learned and developed to my players.
If you would like to contact me, you can fill out the form below or email me at [email protected] or [email protected].
